THE WINNERS OF THE HALLOWEEN COSTUME COMPETITION

Good evening our dear readers! Everybody knows what day today is. 31.10. ---> IT'S HALLOWEEN!!!

As you can see from the title, today's post is about the Halloween costume winners of the year.

Last week the student body organized a cool Halloween-theme Day that included lots of scary things here in Sibelius-lukio. We saw lots of well planned costumes which were one another scarier. When the school day was almost over, it was time for the best part: The costume competition. Lots of great costumes - only one winner. The decision was SO hard to make!

TADAA!!!!
The winner is the best! Maybe not the scariest but at least the funniest!
The effort for this costume is real. We interviewed the winner pair, Ansa and Aino, and now we are going to tell you how they got the inspiration for their amazing idea.

Can you please explain what this costume is exactly?

- We are a Pizzataxi! At first we thought we'd give everyone slices of pizza we bought the pizza but actually we just ate it ourselves... Anyway that was a good idea as an idea right? Haha!

Definitely! How did you decide to make a pair costume?

- We have a group of three best friends. At first we were planning to be something that includes three people but one of us was a part of the school body so she wouldn't have been able to be with us all the time. She had to organize the program of this day and stuff. That's why we decided to to something with just the two of us.

How did you end up doing this costume?

- When the school body first reported of the theme day we started to plan a good costume. We wanted to do something special. Something nobody has ever seen before but we didn't know what that would be. Then this idea came up and we thought it was great.

Can you show us some details on the car? How did you carry this thing out?

- We had a couple of cardboard boxes and a lot of tape. Somehow it just got this shape. Then we sprayed red color all over the car and added the wheels and the other stuff. Also the straps that keep this thing on us

top 3

Hi guys!! We're back with a new post <3! In Finland there are many great shops where you can  find new clothing from. We made a Top 3 list of where we like to shop.

O U R   T O P  3

We adore Monki! If you want to try something out of the box Monki is the shop for you! Monki simply has a great sense of style. We think the clothes in Monki are singular and chill. The clothes there are comfortable and fun. I mean who doesn't love fun?

On Monki's website (link below) you can see how Monki is in touch with the customers. Monki has this thing called #monkifesto. It takes a stand on women, supports gay rights, is against online bullying and body shaming. It is pretty amazing. You can read about it on their website.

"Love is love is love is love. That’s all there is to it. Some people love people of a different gender, some people love people of the same. Some people love in other ways. No matter. It’s really quite simple: it’s the greatest thing we’ve got. Love is love is love is love. High time everyone sees that." -#monkifesto

SECOND-HAND

There are a bunch of thrift stores in Finland, especially in Helsinki. Some are self-service, some are not, some have a purpose of helping developing countries. A few popular ones are Jäähalli's flea marketKaivarin Kanuuna and UFF. I just checked and one close to our school is Tuuliatuu! We should go check that out.

Kuvahaun tulos haulle kaivarin kanuunaI personally really love second-hand shopping for many reasons. For one, it's way cheaper. I could find up to sometimes 10 "new" (for me), cool clothing items for the price of 20€, which is usually equivalent to just one garment when bought new! It's also better for the environment, and it kind of feels more distinctive, I guess. I can easily find clothing that fits my style in thrift stores. I really like having clothes that I know, pretty much for sure, I won't see anyone else walking down the street wearing.

If you haven't ever gotten into second-hand shopping, we highly recommend it! What's there to lose?

Tatu Kauppinen - simple guy with a cute backpack

What are you wearing today?

- Today I am wearing this white T-shirt and this kind of blue sweater with white stripes. Then I'm wearing this hoodie, black chinos and beige shoes. This blue backpack I carry with me is my favorite backpack. It has white dots on it. They're cute. I decided to wear this outfit today because I love this comfy look. It looks nice and feels comfortable. Plus these pants are my favorite thing in the whole world!!

How would you describe your style?

- I'd say my style is kind of hipsterish but still not like well, hipster. Mainly I just go with the flow and wear the clothes I like the most.

Who is your style icon?

- Rihanna. She's just a "queen ass". Ok I don't really have a style icon.

If you had all the money in the world how would you dress?

- If I had more money, I'd probably wear the same kinds of clothes I wear now, but they'd definitely be better quality.

Let's get started

Hey guys! This is the first post on this blog. In case you were wondering what this blog about, it show's you what some of the students in Sibelius-lukio think of fashion and how they dress. On this blog we will post pictures of our friends and their amazing outfits. We are also going to ask them some questions about their style.
All of the little fashionistas on this blog will answer these four simple questions:
1. What are you wearing today and why?
2.  How would you describe your style?
3. Who is your style icon?
4. If you had all the money in the world how would you dress?

enjoy!
